Hi there. Been out for quite a while, only watching from far and between.

I've got some transmission problems between my house and the garage, and depending on moon phases and today's gamma ray level, sometimes it works sometimes it dont. Very low WAF ensue...

Now, RF Insteon seems to more or less fix the problem, and I would like to move in that way. However, old reports (2-4 years old) stated that Insteon was still not perfect, and that the USB variant was prone to freezing. My plan beeing to very slowly more away from X10 by keeping a CM11A and adding an Insteon Interface to have both systems working at the same time if possible.

In this new year of 2013, I sure hope that things have moved forward, and that the USB PC interface is more solid.

I would however prefer to hear first hand reports before jumping into this train.

Anybody care to chip in new information?

thanks,
Spou

Since you last beamed up I don’t think much has happen in the area you’re having problems with. Dual band probably won’t benefit you much because of the distance. A clean 110 is the best solution but sometimes that is near impossible to achieve. My USB seems to be rock solid and I use dual band but don’t see much in the way of distance. It doesn’t seem to jump over my noise problems like trac lighting. I think the old access points did a better job.. Good luck and welcome back.

There is also a new option beyond serial/USB: Ethernet!

Were you using the older RF phase couplers?
