Hello all,

I have 2 EZSwitch30's running some high output spots. They are controlled by 3 separate switchlinks. Everything is grouped as group 95. The home owner reports that the lights have been coming on by them selves lately and I when I log in remotely I see nothing in the device status window indicating that they are on. I had the home owner turn them off at a switch and still nothing in the device status window or event log for that matter. If I turn on the device the status changes for just that switch and I see activity in the log.

I believe my linking is correct, all the switches control and respond to each other along with the PLM (EZSwitches only respond to the switches). I am unable however to assign responders to the EZSwitches. How can I make the device status follow what they are doing?

The EZSwitch30 is a Responder only, like an ApplianceLinc. Turning the EZSwitch30 On/Off at the switch (with Set button) does not result in the switch sending a message to any device that the status has changed.

No, I had her turn it off using one of the linked switchlinks. I guess my question then is why didn't the switchlinks status show in the status window or why didn't I see any insteon activity when the switcklink was activated by the homeowner.

For Powerhome (or any device or automation system) to be aware of the SwitchLinc state change the SwitchLinc must have a Responder link in the Powerhome PLC/PLM. Insteon will not pass the SwitchLinc message on to PH without that link. Part of Insteon security to prevent outside signals from generating activity when the specific device address has not been defined.

Today I forwarded the link to a friend of mine and he was of the view that there is something wrong with the linking. I would advise him to make a thorough check of it. If there is nothing wrong with it then I am pretty sure that the homeowner is lying.
