I recently added an X-10 wireless RF receiever to the mix (model W800RF32A). I am delighted by the range and by the nice small remotes that I can buy for it.
Here is my question: Can I have 2 (two) of these receievers hooked into PowerHome? I do have available serial ports.....but I am not sure if PH can handle two identical (other than ComPort) receievers.
Presently, I have the antenna for my single unit at the corner of the house near the road (so I can open the gate and garage door from my motorcycle keychain).
On the far end of the house, the patio and BBQ area extends another 300 feet away (too far for the present antenna location). I would like to locate the antenna from another unit near this back area.
In the case where a signal was recieved by both recievers...would this cause PH problems?? Would triggers fire twice (once for each receiever)?
Comments???

I'm sure PH could handle two receivers, but you are correct that signals received by both would trigger things twice.
Have you tried moving the antenna to a more central location and elevated?

I am not so sure.....
There was a time that PH could only handle one (1) usb-uirt....then Dave changed coded to support additional UIRT's. I wonder if two W800's would be supported (before I buy another one).
...But, there still is the questin on how to handle any duplicate signals (signals receieved by both units)...Maybe a trigger delay
ph_macroparm("TRIGGER-DISABLE",2,0,0,0,0) + 1
would work..
...the trigger delay prevents multiple insteon signals from firing my triggers.

With the capability of PowerHome most any condition can be programmed for. X10 is not very sophisticated. Will 2 W800RF32A receivers try to put X10 messages on the powerline at the same time if both receive the same RF signal.

W800's do not put messages on the power line. This only happens if you have the Echo portion of the driver set up.

So, is the definitive answer YES, PowerHome CAN install and use two W800 receievers? Sounds like that is the case....right?
I know I can deal with the multiple trigger firings via trigger disable macros....

I have not heard definitive answer yet…
Triggers...Because each controller would have a unique name the device triggering would be based on a single controller and would be queued up and should easily be controlled by disabling the triggers in the Boolean for the other controller if needed.

The "unique name" is my reason for believing multiple controllers of the same type are possible.

Pete,
Yes...you can definately use two W800RF32A's in PowerHome. Early versions may have limited you to only one, but the later versions pretty much allow any number of identical controllers (even though you may not always want to).
The only time it really becomes a problem is usually with USB connected devices. Anything that is connected via a serial port or is connected via TCP/IP (such as the Elk or the Global Cache) should not be a problem. I would never connect two serial PLM's to PowerHome at the same time though as this could be problematic.
Two W800RF32A's though should be fine. You should be able to work through the possible multiple triggers by using the ph_enabletrigger and ph_disabletrigger functions.
Hope this helps,
Dave.
