I have a couple of keypads with no local loads, controlling inline lincs, etc. I've created a new device type as control only, but if I choose that device, I can no longer add the specific buttons to a group to get them to light correctly (they would the responders). It's treating the keypadlinc like a control-linc, which has no status buttons to update. The main reason I'd like to have it this way is that I have no need to see this device in the device manager screen as the devices they control are listed there already.

Any options?

Cicero,

Good question!! I see your dilemma and don't have a real good answer yet. I'll have to do some pondering on the best way to handle it.

In the meantime, Ive a very easy work-around. You'll definately need to keep the KPL as NOT control only in order to make control links to it. Then in the "Filter" field (this is why this field exists), you can enter an "N" character without the quotes (actually you can place whatever you like as well as come up with all kinds of different filters for this as well as other devices to make the device status screen display what you like on the fly).

Then, in the Device Status screen, click on the filter button and enter in this filter: filterval not like '%N%'

This will keep any device containing an "N" character in the filter field from displaying. *Note, you may have to actually control a device to update the display for the filter to go into effect.

I just thought of another possible workaround...set the KPL as non-control only, create all the links, etc. After all done, then change the KPL to control only...might work...the first way is probably better.

Dave.

Thanks Dave! worked like a charm, and kicks in on the web interface as well. The filter is fine with me. No need to do other programming as far as I am concerned.
