Dave--

I currently have a serial Insteon Powerlink. I purchased it a while back for use with my Elk but discovered PowereHome and have been running it from the PC up to now. I am now ready to experiment with Elk support of PH.

I was thinking I would get a second PL and this time get the USB version, with the plan of using the USB PL on my PC and the serial PL on the ELk.

It appears that I will be able to use the "Replace Device" feature of PH to transfer all of the programming on the serial PL to the USB PL...Will that make the new USB PL work with PH the way my serial one did?

Assuming that works, when I move the serial PL to the Elk should I do a factory reset?

TIA,

Mike

If you want to use both PH and Elk at the same time, you will want two 2414 units. I would suggest two 2414S serial units so that they are both compatible with the Elk.

I suspect that the "replace device" feature should work for the controller also, but I haven't verified that. IMHO, you will want to duplicate the links, so that PH and Elk both get the info when a switch is used. I have all my stuff linked to both a 2414U and a 2414S.
