Hey Guys!
I was playing around to get to know my K8000 but seem to be stuck:
I can set a digital output on my card to high (led turns on) but this is not updated to the devicescreen
I can make a digital input go high (+8volts on it's connector and then led turns on) and this is also not updated to the devicescreen.
no triggers are fired....
this is my pwrhome.ini setting for the K8000:

Here is my setup in Powerhome:
and here is my digital input output screen:
the first 3 digitals are outputs
the rest from 4 to 16 digitals are inputs...
I seem to be stuck here 
can anyone help me with this?

Hello Peter,
Your Inputs are defined as VELOUT1 ?!
I tried to reproduce your setup and the Digital Poll Interval has a value of 0,25. When I use this setting my card goes bananas e.g. There seems to appear a traffic jam on the I2C-bus and the analogue values are updated way too soon.
When you use 1 second or higher it all works fine (for me).
But you have to make a hardware circuit which makes the switching time more than a second, to be sure it is detected. (That's the way I do it).

p.s. I tried to find the K8000 settings in my ini file but there is nothing in there about the controller.

The only thing VELOUT1 does is define colours for it in de DS-screen....
I'll try your settings and be back soon....

Nope still no luck,

Should I look at the Parallelport settings in the BIOS?

Hoi Peter,
It looks like there is no communication at all.
The 3 LED's LD17, LD18 and LD19 have to light up every time the Ic2 bus is active.
This means the interval should be the polling-time you have entered in the field "Digital Poll Interval(sec)".
Accept when you activate a digital out, this will activate the LED's and the Output immediately.
The default setting of 378h should normally work but is worth trying to alter.
As you suggested, the BIOS settings could be the problem.
At first a active parallel port would be nice.

That is the curious thing: the 3 LEDs light up every 0.25sec and thus the parallel port IS active....
And even more cuious is that when I set an output to high in PH, the LED on the board of the Output lights up and stays lighted only I see a brief moment in de devicescreen of statuschange but then the PH-status goes to off again but the LED stays on...
just a small update: I installed the test-software on another PC and tested, both out and in, and they both worked... The input was detected by the test-software so the board works... conclusion: There is something worng with my LPT-port on my Proliant server

I am of the view that this is a peculiar problem. I have the feeling that it may be related to hardware circuit. I think Henkie has provided the right advice here. Peter should try to make a hardware circuit which makes the switching time more than a second. I am pretty sure that it will solve the issue.

Well, I moved PH to another computer which was a plan of mine anyway, this just speeds things up....
The K8000 functions the way it should now....
When I reboot my Proliant, I will check the biossettings....
