I have the following setup:
USB-UIRT
Harmony 620 Remote
Next Generation Remote extender (http://www.fadfusion.com/selection.php?
product_item_number=20027000871)
I am trying to get PH to control my lighting. So I added a few devices in
the Harmony software to my 620 to be used just for lighting. These devices
are ones that I no longer use, but still have the remote. I have added
several over the last few days with the thought that maybe I would have
better luck with different devices. Once I find the right device, I
suspect I will be able to delete the ones that didn't work.
I have added the devices in the IR Equipment page, and have learned in the
commands. When I press a button on the remote, I can see the status bar
change with the code. PH is getting the commands. Now, here's where it
gets weird. When I use my harmony, each time I press the button, I see a
different code in the status bar. But if I use the original remote, then I
consistently get the same code each time, thus allowing my triggers to fire
correctly.
So, it would seem that I have it isolated to the harmony itself. My
question to you all is, what combination of equipment are you using that
seems to work correctly with 99%+ accuracy? If I need a new remote, that's
fine, but I need to know which one to get. Or if there's a way to make
mine work, but perhaps I am missing a crucial setting, or maybe there is a
magic device out there that will work consistently with my remote, and I
just need to add it.
Any ideas?

I forgot to mention, it could also be the remote extender
that is the culprit here. If I disable the remote
extender, I can use the harmony. So somehow it is the
combination of those two devices. *sigh*
I have ordered some of the USB extenders over cat5 adapters
(yes, I know they are only USB 1.1 compliant, but I just
want to give that a shot too). Maybe they will work and
solve everything.

I use a harmony 680 and a USB UIRT. I have an IR
extender that I use in my bedroom hardwired to the
basement and than use a hardwired IR emitter that I glued
to the front of the USB IRT located in near the main
computer in another room at the other end of the house.
I did this a number of years ago so the following info
may not be complete, but I suggest that you have PH learn
the harmony's remote control code not the original
remote's code. I recall that I noticed the harmony sent
(or the USB-UIRT) picked up different codes from the same
harmony button depending on the distance it was held from
the USB-UIRT. So I tried lots of combinations, watched
the PH log and used the code that came up the most
times. It is about 99.9% reliable and I have been using
it for years.

I use an IR over Coax (Xantech 17294 Xtra Link 2) with mine if that helps.
