Hi,

Here is my problem and I hope someone can help. I have Windows Vista business edition. Due to this problem I uninstalled and re-installed a fresh version of PH (2.01b). I connected RR3 to my system and downloaded and installed the latest drivers (version 1.9) for RR3.

I also downloaded and ran a test program from RR3 website to ensure that RR3 is able to read IR codes, which it was able to do that.

I started PH and setup the controler as RR3. Then I restarted PH but I got an error saying:

Cannot find the phrr3.ocx control. Please install and register this control. Commands will not be transmitted.

I unregistered and re-registered phrr3.ocx (regsvr32 command) but I am still getting the same error.

I searched the forum for this error and I found a couple of other people had a similar issue but they were running older versions of PH (1.XX)and also they had Windows XP. They all were able to fix the problem based on Dave's suggestions. I followed some of his suggestions in those postings but still I am having the same problem.

I wonder if anyone else got the same error and how it was fixed?

Thanks

Farid

I had similar problems although I don’t have RR3 and resolved them by running PH in Compatibility Mode XP Service Pack 2 and as Administrator. Also everything should be installed in PH default libraries.

Thanks Pete,

I did that but still the same problem. I also installed PH 2.01b on a laptop that I have (XP Pro) and went through the same procedure that I have mentioned in my first message, surprisingly I got the same error. So I don't think it is really something to do with the OS type. It looks like it is related to PH 2.01b configuration. At this point in my opinion PH 2.01b, for some reasons, is not able to see RR3. My old PH 1.03.4 is working like a charm on another XP Pro system. Any other suggestion? Thanks

Farid, you probably saw this from Dave but just in case:

“The way I would try to fix would be to first uninstall ALL RedRat3 drivers, SDK's, runtimes, etc. Lets start with a clean slate for the RR3.

Next I would install the RedRat3 driver on the RR3 CD. Hopefully the .Net installation is ok, not sure what happens with the Windows auto-upgrade, but we'll proceed like it's alright. We don't need to worry about the VB6 runtime since it's now included with the latest versions of PowerHome.

After installing the RR3 driver from the CD, next install the 1.11 SDK using this link http://www.redrat.co.uk/SDK/RedRat_SDK_1.11.zip. You had said you installed the 1.23 SDK which I believe is incompatible with PowerHome. Don't fool with the runtimes, installing them may actually dork up the SDK installation.

After the RR3 driver and 1.11 SDK, try UN-registering the phrr3.ocx. Add a /u to the regsvr32 command line to unregister. After unregistering, try the normal register like you did above.

Note...PowerHome should be shutdown during all of the above. After the above is complete, re-launch PowerHome and see where we get.”
