All,

In the PowerHome Vista thread, I see that there were several requests regarding getting a SmartHome PowerLinc 1132U or 1132CU working with Vista. I spent some time today working this very issue and was absolutely unable to get it to work.

The install of PowerHome to Vista went pretty well. I deviated a little from the standard install by installing PowerHome to c:\powerhome rather than the standard c:\program files\powerhome. I did this because I was told it would help eliminate some of the virtualization issues associated with UAC. Anyways, the install went fine and PowerHome seemed to work without any problems. I did not need to run in XP compatibility mode or as an administrator and was able to leave UAC enabled. Through the course of my testing however, I enabled/disabled all of these options in an effort to get the 1132(C)U working. I was unsuccessful.

Has anybody gotten either the 1132U or 1132CU to work with PowerHome under Vista? If so, please let me know so I can document the required steps.

Thanks,

Dave.

Hi Dave,

I was able to load the 1132CU drivers by loading Smarthome Manager following the instructions on this link.

(See the post from bobfwilliams)

Unfortunately, PowerHome won't talk to the 1132CU, but Smarthome will. Apparently, PH isn't binding to the 1132CU even though I have it set that way.

Additionally, I recall I was able to get PowerHome to work with the 1132CU by installing on XP first then upgrading the OS to Vista.

Greg,

Arghhh!! I just reformatted by Vista machine (I HATE Vista) and reloaded XP .

Are you saying that you WERE able to get the 1132CU to work on a Vista machine if the Vista was an upgrade from XP?

Dave.
