I would like to turn on a couple of lights or a group of lights in the house using the garage remote control. I currently use Insteon but not opposed to an X10 solution. It there a piece of hardware that can be programmed to take my remote signal and turn it into an X10 or insteon signal? Thank you.

If you have a homelinc transmitter in your vehicle than you can use X10 RF receiver such as the W800RF32 and train the homelinc transmitter with an X10 RF keypad.

Thank you for help. I don't have the homelink transmitter in my car... I was thinking more along the lines of a device that can be trained to my garage door remote...(to use the extra two buttons that aren't being used). Can the W800FR32 do that?

I doubt it. Which system do you have?

I just installed a 3850!

My idea was to use the included lamp module to drive a relay connected to a DS10A.

This isn't exactly what you are looking for, and I'm not sure how 'new' it is (but it's listed on smarthome.com as new), but this garage door controller looks like it will trigger your Insteon network (and therefore allow PH to kick in to do just about anything you want) when your garage door opens or closes.

Seems like SH has a bunch of new Insteon products available for pre-order right now (check them out here). Seems like they are moving into the home security space...
