Hi - I'm recently seeing a distressing problem with my INSTEON setup. I have a PLC and Powerhome, and all links are to/from the PLC (all operation is through PH). All commands from PLC to responders work perfectly, as do all KPL -> PLC signals. The problem comes from Controlinc -> PLC communication, and seems to be common to all 5 of my Controlincs. The way I have it set up, the user presses the top center Controlinc button (I call it the "GO" button) 1-4 times, and then presses one of the other buttons once. In this manner I have mapped 18 devices (36 on or off commands) onto the 10 buttons.

The problem is this - the 3rd or 4th press of GO seems to get lost. I see that the Cleanup message -always- shows up, but the Broadcast message that should proceed it sometimes just isn't received at the PLC. In the absence of other communication problems I'm sort of baffled.

I rebooted the computer and powercycled the PLC - no change. Then, I cleared and re-loaded the PLC database using Powerhome. Things got a -lot- better (losing 10% of the 3rd/4th Broadcast signals rather than 80%), but still not the way things used to work, and they previously worked great for many months.

Tried clearing/reloading 2 more times - no change.

(For PH folk, I'm triggering on "Insteon In" Group 1-5, On (0x11) or Off (0x13)).

I guess I'm looking for suggestions on how to debug. (I.e., where to look for the problem). Could the PLC be dying?

I'm cross posting to SH Insteon forum because I'm not clear as to whether it's a PH or Insteon issue.

All comments welcome.

Can PH trigger off the cleanup command instead of (or in the absence of) the broadcast command? I think I never miss a cleanup command.

Thanks!
/j
