I know GC-IRE support is coming in a future version, but I couldn't wait. I want to be able to tell when the tv was turned on or off. So I used PH's COM features to trap the IR power-on and power-off for the tv.

Since my TV is in the family room and the ph computer is in the office, I connected the IRE to the serial port on the GC-100. Using Lantronix Redirector I'm able to communicate via LAN from the PH computer to the GC-100 serial port.

The macros borrow heavliy from TonyNo's CID Macros. I'll post mine if anyone wants them.

It took some time to figure out heads or tails of the data coming from the IRE. Each command from my remote was repeated several times, but they weren't always exactly the same. I was finally able to get strings for "on" and "off" that I could test for. And so far so good.

(snip)

Now it's no good. I cannot get consistant IR codes from the IRE to PH.
