I am having a little bit of a problem programming the remotelinc. Here's what I see:
1. When using tap-tap linking, I can setup a button on the remote to control the load on one of my KPLs: Tapping the top of the remote button turns it on, bottom turns it off, holding the top and bottom works for dimming, and all-on and all-off on the remote work as expected.
2. When I use Power-Home to program a similar setup on a different button on the remote to a different KPL, I get a strange result. Tapping the top and bottom of the remote button does nothing. However, holding the top of the button will dim up, and holding the bottom of the button will dim down, and all-on and all-off on the remote work as expected, i.e. control the KPL in question.
Any idea whether I should be doing something different, or whether there's a bug in Power-Home or the RemoteLinc?
Niels.

make sure of your ramp-rate for the link. If it's exceptionally long, it could appear to do nothing.

Niels,
Strange behaviour indeed! Does this problem exist on just certain buttons or is it evident on any button programmed with PowerHome? After programming the button, can you watch the log in the Insteon Explorer and see what commands are transmitted when pressing the button, pressing and holding the button? It may be easiest to temporarily set the poll interval to 0 (and tabbing off of the field) to keep background polling data from interfering.
If there is no log activity when pressing on or off, then I would tend to think that there is a bug in the RemoteLinc unless SmartHome has some additional programming requirement that was not in the original beta units (what I currently have and works).
You may want to try a factory reset and then try reprogramming. Ive seen a number of Insteon devices that just started acting flaky and a reset and reprogram corrects the problem.
The one last thing that I would try is to do ALL the programming of the RemoteLinc from PowerHome and see if that makes a difference. It's possible that the manual tap-tap programming of the RL does some bit-flipping in memory that the developers have not been made aware of.
Let us know,
Dave.
