I just purchased Powerhome and would like to control my Insteon lights using my Pronto remote. Is it possible to set up Powerhome using the USB Insteon controller and an IR543 to send the X-10 signals? If so, what are the steps (new to the program).

Thanks

Anthony,

It certainly sounds doable...but I would not think it the best way. I think the X10 commands that are capable of being sent by the IR543 is rather limited. Additionally, you would be having X10 commands on the line along with Insteon and that sometimes does not work too well. You would have to send the IR to the IR543, it would be converted into X10 and sent on the PowerLine, the 2414U PowerLinc would have to pick them up and send to PowerHome, a trigger would fire and an Insteon command sent back out through the 2414U. It could certainly be done, but I believe the response times would probably not be satisfying.

If I can keep from mixing X10 powerline signals and Insteon signals, I would do it. A better solution would probably be to get a RedRat3 or USB-Uirt to receive the IR signals into PowerHome (or very soon the Global Cache GC-IRE). I know several people on this forum use this technique.

If you'd rather do it using the IR543, then just let me know and I'll post some instructions on how to do it.

Dave.
