Hi,
I had Powerhome running on a dedicated old laptop for several months with about 12 insteon devices on timers. Was working fine until one day the hard drive started getting bad blocks and the program got corrupted. Now I'm rebuilding on a new Hard drive, same hardware but getting stuck. Lots or SRIR=Send Failed messages. It discovers a device, but that's about it. Tried in all sorts of outlets around the house. Tried with my old powerhome db file, and also from scratch, seems like same problem with fresh or old database. The other wierd thing is that when I just add the PLC controller device with address 06.6C.21 [which is on the sticker] another identical PLC but with an different address seems to add itself [00.01.2C]. When I run the isResponding I get value returned TRUE. Here's a log on start, discover device and then try to control it. Any ideas or suggestions? Please?

Looks like the PLC map isn't loaded. You need to download the coreapp file to the PLC. I believe the latest version is timercoreapp12.slb. It should be in your device manager directory.

Hi. Thanks for your reply. I downloaded the core app, reinitialized and it was working for a few seconds. I re-initialized a few more times and found that sometimes the PLC shows responding in the log, but often says unresponsive. But I think the big problem is that it detects the DM at the wrong address. In my recent tests, re-initializing over and over again, I had about 5 more insteon DM devices added all with new [invalid] addresses. If it picks up the right address, then it is responsive less than half the times. Perhaps my 2414U PowerLinc Controller has gone faulty? More often than not, there is a specific address it shows in log as PLC which is not the right address, and it doesn't work. The times when it does get the right address, it doesn't accept the download core application program - says completed right away. Any more ideas?

Ed,
Looking at your SDM log, there is something seriously wrong. Your PLC is definately reporting back two distinctly different ID's. The GetPLCStatus command is reporting 01.2C.06 and the SDM active line is reporting 06.6C.21. Your firmware version is also being reported as 0.6 which totally bogus. Ive seen this exact problem before reported by one other user on the board.
Ok, found it. Check out this link http://power-home.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=1055. About halfway down you can see nearly identical errors as you post. Normally I would say bad PLC, send it back, but it appears that the resolution was ultimately multiple SDM installations confusing everything.
Here is what I would try. Any SDM installations other than the one in the PowerHome directory, I would remove. Then I would manually launch the SDM3.exe file in the PowerHome SDM directory (without PowerHome running). Verify that the logs all look correct. Next launch PowerHome. Go to the "Setup" tab in the Insteon Explorer and work through the entire setup routine. Download CoreApp, Clear PLC Database, Add ID's to PLC.
Verify that everything looks proper in the SDM log. Shutdown PowerHome. Shutdown the SDM if it doesnt close with PowerHome. Launch PowerHome. The SDM should auto-launch and everything should be back in sync.
Let me know how it goes,

Hi Dave,
I hope this post isn't too long. I have a fresh windows install 2kpro, fresh install of latest powerhome. I manually launch SDM, then powerhome and capture logs. I repeated this about 6 times as each time the address and firmware are different for the PowerLinc. I have firmware reported as 4.8 twice, a 0.6 a 0.1 and two 2.12's. The last log entry is the restart that allowed control of lights but polling status not working.
Please give me your advice whether or not I should go and source a new PowerLinc controller. I tried your advice above but doesn't seem to be getting better.
