I cannot control Insteon devices through PH anymore. I am sure I was able to do it before, but now clicking on "on", "off" or "adim" status does absolutely nothing. I experience the same problem with the CC as well.

This is not PLC/USB related; InHomeFre has no problem with controlling devices.

TIA

Go to the Insteon Explorer and look for activity. Maybe the SDM is hung.

Have you tried reinitializing PH to give the SDM a kick in the pants?

Nope, it was not an SDM issue. In fact I isolated the issue to the corrupted pwrhome.db file. I replaced it with the backup copy, luckily only two days old, and PH works again. Now, how the file got corrupted in a first place, is a mystery.

This prompts me to mention that PH should have more accessible way of backing up and restoring its database files. Especially if they are prone to get corrupted.

You should do as I do and create a recurring Timed Event to backup the database daily using ph_backupdb.

I use: ph_backupdb( "c:\ph.db", 1)

Mark,

If you've got a copy of the corrupted database file, it would be great if you could email it to me. I'll be able to determine then what exactly went wrong.

The database files are usually very stable. Ive only heard of maybe 2 or 3 people that actually suffered some form of corruption in the last 5 or so years. But, like Tony suggests, I know alot of people like to make a daily backup and it's easy enough using the ph_backupdb function (it's now fixed in .10 version) and a timed event.

Thanks,

Dave.

Thanks, Tony, but this will keep only one copy of the db file. What if you accidentally overwrite your backup with the corrupted db? Something like "c:\ph.db-%D",0) with %D being substituted for the current date would be best. I just started to dig into the formulas, but so far I was not able to find any easy way to do that.

Dave, I am not sure if I still have a copy of that corrupted database around. I am sending the oldest file I have in an email.

Try: ph_backupdb( "c:\ph-" + string( today(), "mmdd") +".db", 1)
