Ok all, I've gotten tired of SmartHome taking too long to release a IRLinc type of device that I can use to interface my Harmony 880 remote to my Insteon lighting control.
I've decided to use the USB-UIRT with PowerHome to trigger my Insteon lights. All the Insteon gear is already installed and working perfectly with PH.

For those of you who know about the Harmony remotes, when I go to add a device (to be controlled), any suggestions on what to use for the Manufacturer and Model for the USBUIRT? I guess I could go and create my own devices, but if someone already did this, I hate to reinvent the wheel.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Charles

What I did with my Harmony was to select a Manufacturer and Model of a device that I knew I would NEVER own. I then renamed this device (via the Harmony web center) to be my "Insteon Lights". Next, I used PH to learn the signals and set up IR triggers to control the lights.

My thinking was that this way the Harmony would never send out signals that could interfere with anything else.

Hope this helps..... Maybe somebody else has a better idea???

My solution is similar to smarty's except instead of creating a new device I used an old remote that I knew I would never use again for a TV I no longer had and learned the codes by adding them to my AV receiver device. Since I use the Receiver as part of all Activities the new codes automatically appeared in each Activity and on the remote's screen. This saved me the trouble of adding them to each activity separately. I only have a couple of codes learned this way. If I had dozens, perhaps a separate device would be best.

Thanks guys. I created the device in the Harmony as a X10 IR-543 and just learned the codes in PH. I guess I'll just have to keep my mapped commands documented and updated.
