All,

Well Im out in fabulous Las Vegas displaying PowerHome at the CES show in the SmartLabs Pavilion. Spent most of today getting the booth setup. Didnt get a chance to wander around so cant report on anything new. I did get to look at the upcoming Insteon RF remote. It's got 6 individual on/off (or dim/bright...not sure which) and an All on/All off Dim/Bright buttons. Looks pretty neat. I'll try to play with it some more and possible get some pictures.

I apologize for not giving the board more attention than I have. Normally I try to respond to every message but Im going to pick and choose tonight and answer a few. I'll eventually catch up to them all though after the show.

Dave.

Yeah Dave, have fun at the show. Good luck with the booth and showing PowerHome. At least try to get a picture of yourself at the PowerHome booth.

No kidding! RF Remote! Do you see anything else Insteon related? Motion Detectors by chance? Outside flood lights?

Nothing new to report . Was so busy manning the PowerHome booth, I didnt get to see any other aspect of the show (no bathroom or food breaks either).

The RF remote was cool. You can see the details at cocoontech.com. BSR has alot of photos and did an excellent job covering the Insteon booth. He also hit a number of other home automation related technologies and wrote some excellent reviews. If you havent found Cocoontech yet, it's a must visit.

No motion detectors yet. Looks like we'll be having thermostats very soon from a couple of different vendors. I think the problem with the RF devices is that SmartHome was still making changes to the RF until recently. The RF developers kit was only recently released and apparently all Insteon RF devices will be using a new frequency requiring a new RF receiver. This is what SmartLabs is calling an "Access Point". The older SignaLincs will continue to work but will not receive RF from the new devices because of the differing frequencies. The new "Access Point" will also pass the extended Insteon commands, something that the current SignaLincs do not.

Wow thanks for the info on the SignaLincs. I was about to purchase a couple more to extend the range of the RF remote when it's available. Glad I saw this because it would have been a wast.

well that is a complete change from what they were seeming to say about the signalincs. What a pain!
