I have just set up a new Win 7 64 bit PC and installed PH 2.1b. I then copied the database folder from my old dying XP. With a little trying and much to my amazement, I was able to get PH running, including as a service, and with the WEB interface. I did set SDM3.exe to run as administrator in compatibility mode. Thanks, Dave, for this neat program and for all the advice earlier on getting things running.
I am not able to then run PH from the desktop, as it seems to try to start another instance of PH, and this second instance is blocked from accessing the database. I do not see a way to access the running copy of PH, but I will work around it for now.
I figured as long as I was having success, I would try a Belkin F5L009 LAN USB hub, connected to a "normal" USB hub, to which I have attached my Insteon PLC. Low and behold, it works!! SDM3.exe doesn't even hesitate, it just connects.
My ultimate goal is to be able to use a netbook connected via WiFi to host and run PH, partly to have control from anywhere in the house, and partly just to see if I can.
