How do I write code for two quick off presses of an insteon switch as a trigger?

two quick presses SHOULD send a faston or fastoff (depending), so that would be the trigger value (instead of ON or OFF or Dim, etc). The exception to this is the Controlinc table top controller. It does not send faston/fastoff at all (unfortunately).

I was looking for formal program code that could distinguish one press of a switch (which would turn off the lamp directly connected) from two or three presses of the same switch which would additionally trigger a corresponding macro.

I don't know if anyone has done something like this, but this thread is close.

I think that thread does describe what I want. Unfortunately its in a language that I'm not familiar with. In fact it's Greek to me. I'll save the link for now and see if I can find a primer on the progamming language. Can you suggest one? Is there something like that in the forum?

Yup. Check the Quick Start doc that came with PH. Also, poke around here on the forums. Lots of info.
