Dave,

I'm getting the following items in the Insteon Explorer (either in the Controllers or Responders sections), even though I have no items in the pending operations.

Even overnight they dont seem to go to both verified.

CTRL         &n bsp;    RESP
-----------------------------------------
verified        &nbs p; flagged create
flagged create    verified
flagged create    flagged create
flagged create    checking
checking        &nbs p; flagged create
verified        &nbs p; checking

I think they items were being marked as "failed" under the device maintenance tab. Clearing seems to help, but is there a way to raise the threshold so they fail less often?

I would second this request. I have had to 'clear failed' several times, even though I generally have a reliable and 'healthy' Insteon network. Maybe have an option in setup to set the threshold for 'failed'?

Fasttime,

Looks like you already found the problem. I was to suggest looking to see if the device in question was either flagged inactive or had been flagged as failed.

I'll add a new user defined parameter so that you number of critical failures can be set by the user.

Dave.

I'm having this same problem. In Insteon Explorer I don't have any pending operations, I have cleared failed several times, but I still have "FLAGGED CREATE" under controller and responders for several devices after almost 2 days. I am running the latest PowerHome 1.03.4.9.

I also ran into this, but was able to get past it by changing the Max Failure Operations box (Insteon Explorer) to a small posative value (say about 5).

After I changed this from a -1 (don't know why it was that), my pending operations started to fire off (background polling also then started to work).

Note to Dave: The -1 value was in the box when I upgraded from 3.48 to 3.49.

The -1 value also showed up for me a couple of times after the SDM crashed and I restarted PH. I believe something went wrong when I started moving windows and sending commands before the PLC was fully ready - there was a progress countdown in the log window in Insteon Explorer and I tried to change things while this was still at 60%. I guess that's bad. In any case, I just changed the Max Failures to 4 and everything started working again.

Dean,

I would check the Max Failures box like Smarty suggests but if the Device Maint screen is not showing failures then this is probably not it. Smarty, I checked code and cant figure out why it would default to -1. The Database Upgrade process should be setting the default to 5 (even though if you delete the controller and recreate it it'll get a 2...Ive just corrected this so it will also default to 5). I think the only time Ive seen a -1 appear in this box is when I opened the Insteon Explorer and didnt have an Insteon controller defined.

Dean, you may want to email me your database so I can try and determine what is wrong with this problem as well as what might be causin the "Allow Link Spider" field to not stick.

Mine defaulted to -1 as well. Got it changed and saved to plc, etc then closed PH, re opened, back to -1. Haven't tried it again to see if it will stay through a restart yet.

After saving and re-starting PH, my changed values have stuck. No problem anymore.

I am also having problems with FLAGGED CREATE and CHECKING settings not being set to VERIFIED. This started after upgrading to PowerHome 1.03.4.9. I tried setting the Maximum Failues to 5 as suggested under the Explorer. The default value was 0. The Maximum Failues keeps getting reset to 0. I set the value to 5 and pressed done, and then reoped the window to check the value, but it still is 0.

Dave, my Max Failures was 0, I put it to 5 and clicked on "Save PLC Settings". After this, my pending operations and completed operation boxes in Insteon Explorer started displaying information. I believe the Device Maint screen was showing failures, but I had cleared them. Within 5 minutes all my FLAGGED CREATE messages turned to VERIFIED.

I'll shoot you off an email with my DB so you can take a look at it in the event it helps you out.

All,

Thanks for reporting this for me. Ive located the problem and have the fix. Dean, thank you so much for the DB you emailed me. It was what led me to identify the problem.

The problem occurs when upgrading from 1.03.4.8 only and is a flaw in the DBUPGRADE util. If you upgrade from 1.03.4.7, then you shouldnt have a problem. The corrected DB Upgrade utility can be found here: http://www.power-home.com/download/phupg.exe. Just download it and overwrite the existing one on the PowerHome directory (default located at c:\program files\powerhome). Once you have the new version, you can then perform a "Rebuild" and the problem should go away.

Also, I'll update the 1.03.4.9 setup file to include the new phupg.exe file tomorrow so noone else will have this problem.

Thank you all and let me know if you have any problems.

Dean, I'll look at the other problem as well.

Dave.

Hate to ask an obvious question, but how do you "Rebuild"? Do you run phupg.exe again? I didn't want to try that in case it caused a lose of the db.

Nadler,
Just run "phupg.exe" again, and it will say that it is rebuilding the PH database (since the database is already at the right version level....it thinks you just want to rebuild it.....which you do).

All your macros and other items will be un-affected.

Noel,

Smarty's got you covered. The rebuild option is great if you've let your database get out of control such as never cleaning out the eventlog. If you let the DB get large and then clean the eventlog, the actual physical size will still remain. You can then use the rebuild option of the phupg to copy all of your data into a fresh new DB.

Dave.

Dave,

Is there a way to have this triggered after the eventlog trim?

Cicero,

Unfortunatley no. The "rebuild" is a part of the phupg.exe and not part of PowerHome. Ive been thinking of how to automate it, but it would be kind of tricky. All database connections must be shutdown during the rebuild and this is what makes it kind of hard to do from within PowerHome (similar to the problem I had with the ph_backupdb function).
