Another newbie questions concerning web serving....
Is it possible to use one computer to "serve" up PowerHome **AND** use the same computer to also "serve" video from its DVR card?
Let me explain. I have a computer that presently is dedicated ONLY for video security. It uses a GeoVision 1240 DVR card and GeoVision software. The GeoVision software allows me to web serve out the video. I can see the video if I set my web browser to that machines IP address. I was hoping to also use PH on this machine (since it is fast/dedicated/always on/never tampered with/etc).
Since I will also want to serve up PowerHome for a remote control display....I am questioning if this could work. Any comments/ideas?

Sure. Check the performance, though, before you commit. Video hits hard.

also, set the port for PH to a different number than the GeoVision uses. I use 80 for my webserver, 83 for PH, 82 for a webcam, etc.

I use the same PC (P4 2ghz)to web serve a 16 camera DVR card (ebay), PowerHome, and a ReplayTv Software Video Server, plus network share music for remote winamps. Works fine most of the time.
I can make it choke however by maxing out the FPS on the DVR card and using RDP. Weird that I get better results with VNC.
Would rather have more than 1 dedicated PC though...

I paid $65.50. It is a kodicom(?) clone card. (It has 4 conexant chips and 1 plx)
120 FPS total.
The more cameras you use the FPS goes down. 4 cameras = 30 FPS (real time) each, 8 cams = 15 FPS, etc. or you can raise the FPS on some and lower it on others until you reach the 120. I hooked up 9 cameras.
At 1st I thought anything less than full 30FPS on every channel would suck, but it's not too bad depending on needs.
Real time is good for watching tv but not necessary for motion capured stills. For security (or small avi of our dogs) you select an area for the software to detect motion and then let it tell you when someone has walked onto your driveway, or if the dogs went to the waterbowl.
Once in awhile I do hook my cabletv to one of the inputs raise it to 30 and lower the others and "stream" it.
