I'm trying to do setup on a KeypadLinc that is not working... centering around the creation of an All On button (#7) and All Off button (#8)
First of all, I link button #7 to button #1, and button #8 to button #1. This reports as "NOT FOUND" on the Controller and "VERIFIED" on the Responder. The links on both buttons to the other devices on the insteon network are VERIFIED/VERIFIED.
Second, in the keypad config screen, I turn #7 to an "On" button and #8 to an "Off" button. After saving the config, then reloading it, both show as an "Off" button.
I also have checkboxes 2-6 checked to ON for #7 and 2-6 checked to OFF for the #8 button. The ones for #7 turn off all the LED's rather than turn them on.
Thanks for any help... good job keeping in touch with your users, I feel this software may be a more wise purchase than SmartHome's simply because you work with your community out in the open like this.

Matt,
Your first problem is a known bug (that is fixed in the upcoming beta). Basically when creating intrabutton linking with a KPL, the controller will start out as VERIFIED but end up with NOT FOUND. The linking will still work however.
Your second problem sounds as if the #7 was not properly setup as an non toggle "On" button. The KPL util is structured so that you can set a button to be either "Toggle", "On", or "Off". However, due to a bug in the current KPL firmware, this does not fully work (blame SmartHome . The byte in the KPL that allows you to "read" current button state or set button state is masked and unaccessible. However...you can still set it up with a little manual intervention (which hopefully won't be necessary when the new KPL firmware comes out and the util can work as designed).
To set this up, the first thing you must do is set the buttons as "Toggle" buttons and save. Then, go to the KPL and press the buttons that you want to make as "On" buttons until the light is on. Press the buttons that you want to make as "Off" buttons until the light is off. Leave it this way and then reopen the KPL util. Now change the button type from "toggle" to "on" and/or "off". Save and the buttons will now be properly set as on and off buttons.
This should take care of it for you.
Dave.
