Dave,
Any status update you can give us with respect to updating the insteon documentation (and maybe even ELK integration)?
As a newbie to PH, I have been able to set up macro's, timers, triggers, and most everything else. What I found was a steep learning curve that took me quite a while to get used to.
Getting all the documention into 1 single manual and then adding in TIP's to show how each type of item can work would help newbies be more accepting of PH (hence help the cash stream).
This being said, I REALLY LIKE PH!!! My trial runs out this week, $$$ is on the way!

Smarty,
Glad you like the program. I totally agree with you and I really need to devote some time to bringing the documentation up to date as well as a doc facelift.
The current plan is to have one more beta (a lot going in and changing). All of the Insteon screens and functions will be combined into a new Insteon Explorer window. Some new TTS functionality that allows greater control including "on the fly" voice changing as well as synchronous TTS and "priority alert" TTS. New functions, new controllers, etc.
The first round of Elk support is currently in test with Elk. What this will do is simply allow you to use PowerHome to configure all of your Insteon devices and then PowerHome will program the M1XSP so that the Elk can control Insteon. The next step will be to add the Elk as a standard PowerHome controller. I just purchased a substantial chunk of Elk equipment so Im busy working away.
Anyways, after that last beta (assuming no serious flaws), the plan is to then freeze the code so that I can rework the manual and then post a "release" version of PowerHome.
Hope these tidbits are tantalyzing .
Dave.

It's coming along nicely, but not nearly as fast as I would like. I hate to state dates, since Im a poor estimater.
However, if demand is really high, I can scale back the Elk integration and release the next beta after the new Insteon screens are done. I can then follow it up with another beta with the Elk support.
If anyone has comments on this, feel free to post them here.
Dave.

I don't have Elk so I vote for the next beta with additional insteon screens.

Elk will be my main control for Insteon and the whole house automation so Elk integration will be highly needed.
This will be a full blown setup in a 6,500 sq ft home, with lots of Insteon, motion detectors, cameras, touch screens, computers, etc. the whole shutting match!
Just waiting for your next Beta so we can get it all going. Right now I am have a VERY difficult time figuring out how to use PowerHome.. I am not a programmer, just a user of programs and "SIMPLE" goes a long way!
I know you said you were a "poor estimator", but just so I can give all the people that will be involved in this project some time of estimate, what is the best and worst case time frame?
Thanks!

I would vote for the earlier beta with just the Insteon screens to let us all test them.

I am OK either way. I will be using both Insteon and Elk and am looking forward to both.
Not to hijack the thread I started; but will any new release fix the USB-UIRT problems described here:

Jimbo,
I will probably release the next beta without the built-in Elk support (you'll still be able to use the ElkInsteon utility to have the Elk control Insteon). I'll follow that up immediately witht the Elk support. If I had to layout a timeline, I would think it would look like this:
Next beta...best case two weeks...worst case 5 weeks. The Elk support to follow two weeks or three weeks after.
Now for possibly more bad news. The next beta will have greatly improved Insteon setup and linking capabilities. It won't however have any significant changes to the macros, triggers, timed events, etc. The Control Center will of course be different, but basic programming of PowerHome will essentially be the same. What Im saying is that if you're having problems programming PowerHome now, the same problems will probably still be present after the next beta (Insteon linking and setup however will be much better/easier).
Are there any specific areas that you're currently having problems with that I may be able to answer questions for you?
Let me know and I'll do my best to get you going.
Dave.

Will we be able to see/edit X-10 addresses in insteon devices?

Herdfan,
Im still working hard to make my worst case estimate (5 weeks from Aug 2). Im going to try my best but want to make sure I squash all the current known bugs (most centering around the CHECKING and other link problems).
Mike,
Yes. Ive already got the X10 address and ramprate discovery implemented and working on getting the ramprate and X10 address poking implemented.
Dave.
