Ok, this isn't really a PowerHome specific question, but thought I'd ask. I'm trying to find an economical way to tell when something is on (right now, specifically appliances - stove / oven, dryer, etc).

Has anyone had any success doing this kind of thing?

I'd rather not wire into an appliance and the $60-100 each for plug in detectors is a little expensive.

Most appliances use some current when they're off, so there needs to be some threshold control.

Best case would be an outlet that sent an X-10 signal when what was plugged in came on. Acceptable would be something that clamped around a power lead and could be hooked up to an X10 Burgler Alarm Interface (don't remember the model number off the top of my head)

Any ideas / suggestions?

Thanks, Tony
