Hi,

I've been away a while and am getting back into the insteon controllers and such.

So far I've downloaded 2.1.2 to my new computer and hooked up my old 2414u to it. Windows 7 saw it and installed something, but it happened so fast I'm not sure what driver it installed.

When I try to get PH2 going I'm getting an error related to "ISRESPONDING". As in, my 2414u is not.

I went into the setup - controller menu and made it an Insteon DM.

Where do I go from here?

 Thanks,

 Steve

Not sure if both are necessary so I would install 2.1.3 which is just unzipping a file over the 2.1.2 and then 2.1.4 which is another ZIP file to be unzipped over 2.1.3. There is an issue at 2.1.2 where the SDM3 interface to the 2414 PLC was not being used correctly. 2.1.3 ZIP file fixes that problem and then there is another 2.1.4 ZIP file with another fix.

Follow the posts under 2.1.2. There are links to 2.1.3 ZIP and 2.1.4 ZIP files in subsequent posts to the 2.1.2 announcement.

Lee,
213 has the fix for the PLC. Had the problem myself.

Thanks Pete.   Was not sure if 2.1.4 ZIP is cumulative, containing both the 2.1.3 PLC fix and the 2.1.4 fix for something else. Might be 2.1.4 ZIP is all that is needed if it is cumulative. Figured installing both could not hurt just in case 2.1.4 does not contain the 2.1.3 PLC fix.

I downloaded 213 and 214. I hit extract all and directed into the C:\powerhome directory.

 I'm still getting the error.

 Did I install it wrong?
Any other things I can try?

Windows did install it as a Human interface device.

There are no drivers loaded for it when I look at its properties.

Should the SDM be loaded as its driver?

Just found a bug report in the smarthome/device manager folder. Cannot get the SDM3 started from that folder either.

There was a time when Smartlabs indicated the SDM3 was not compatible with W7 64 bit. Cannot find that documented any more. Cannot find any statement about the environments SDM3 supports. Unless someone has used SDM3 in a 64 bit configuration I have to wonder if that environment is supported. It may be by now. Suggest a call to Smarthome support.

I run my PLC on Win 7 64bit. SDM is not a driver but an application that acts like a driver. Try launching SDM without PH. Powerhome/Smarthome/device manager/SDM3. Click on the window type DM. In the next windows type isresponding. Also type getport and make sure you have the correct port in PH controller settings. Report back what you find.

Steve,

Make sure that on Windows 7 you've installed into c:\powerhome vs c:\program files\powerhome. Since you're on 2.1.2, you're probably already good here since that is the default location.

You also must right-click on SDM3.exe and set it to XP compatibility mode and run as administrator. Once you've done that, launch SDM3.exe (without PH running) and see if it will connect to your PLC. If you get this far, you should be able to launch PH and have it work.

 Dave.
