When I try to install the 2.1.2 beta on Windows 7 x64 I get an error message
saying "Can't start NTPort Library driver.". It tells me that that install failed
but PH seems to have been installed. Everything works except the Socket
Server and the Web Server. How can I fix this?

I have tried uninstalling, restarting and reinstalling but nothing seems to
change.

Oh and now it wont communicate with the PLM anymore. It was doing that
before though.

Ok so I am making some progress. If I have 2.1b installed when I install
2.1.2 it doesn't give me an error on install, but 2.1.2 and 2.1.4 don't work.

Well Im stuck so I guess Im sticking with 2.1b for now.

The annoying thing is that 2.1.4 works on my old XP computer.

I never figured out a way to make it work so I am back on 2.1b.

For what it’s worth I’m on Win 7 Pro X64 without the problem. I took all the defaults and had to edit the INI to correct some stuff. I’m at 214. I also have it installed on XP and Win 7 32 bit. The 64 bit system nominally does not have any controllers active but has when testing.

So far my 2.1.4 installation seems to work OK despite the error msg. Copied my db & pwrhome.ini from WinXP machine, ran PHUPG.EXE, had to change the PLM com port in Settings and seems to be running OK. Saw a previous post mentioning that the NTPort Library driver is for a parallel port device - my machine has no parallel port, could that be the issue?

The only real problem I had with 2.1.4 was that the web and socket servers
both didn't work.

Was there a solution for this? I am on Win 7 64 and web and socket do not work on either. I also get a errormessage on startup and have to manually connect the PLM and turn on timed events. Any help would be appreciated.

CRITICAL ERROR
...
Error Number 39
Window: uo_socketserver
object uo_socketserver
Event: Constructor
Line 11

Thanks Tom

To answer my own question, I turned of UAC and both problems went away. Now to figure out the right sequence to connect to the socket server.

Should be no problem with Socket Server. Just make sure you address the right ports and you have it installed on both systems and is active.

Thanks,
I have the rudimentary layout and the class for the PH_SS is working, now to set up the DIO/AIO part of the software and I will be on my way to finishing the interface. (I am using 6 LabJack IO boards to monitor 100+ DIO and 15+ AIO ports and attach logic to each port.

This is the last piece to get my house back to full automation status. When done, you almost never touch a light switch, motion sensors and door sensors anticipate you and keep the way lights in front on, and turns them off behind you.

One caveat. My kids never learned to turn off lights and now as adults they are having trouble adjusting to their 'dumb' apartments ;)

Why hasn't Dave addressed this issue yet? Or is there a fix
posted in a different forum section?

Taylor,

Which part of the thread are you referring to (there were a couple of issues )? Are you having a problem with the NTPort driver not loading or the Web and Socket server not loading?

The NTPort driver is only used by the Generic Parallel port driver and the K8000 driver so would not cause an issue if it doesnt load (this should be fixed though in the next beta). If its the websever and socket server not loading, then you'll most likely need to turn UAC off.

Let me know,

Dave.
