I'm SO excited to be using PH, I really am! So much stuff I can now do that I have wanted to do for a while, one of which is the purpose of this post .

SO, I had some EagleEye motion sensors that I bought a while back - only to realize they didn't work with my Black and Decker X10 system - and I wanted to use them with PH. After some research I found that I needed an RR501 to make these guys work, I just got that today (I'll be getting that RF2 interface later, right now I don't have a serial port...).

I programmed the motion sensor for B2 and the RR501 for B1. My hope was that when PH detected a B2 X10 event (the sensor firing) that I could turn on and off a light. I put a trigger in:

ID: Test
Action Type: Macro
Action: TestMacro (this turns on an Insteon light)
Trigger Type: X10 In (based on another post on this forum and using the RR501)
Trigger ID: B
Trigger ID #: 2
Trigger Value: Addressed (I've also tried On and Off)
Boolean: 1

So, I put this in and hoped for anything but got nothing. I looked at the PH logs and I don't see an event for X10 In - I figured I would see X10 B2 In, but nope.

So perhaps I just wasted some $$$$, but hopefully my solution will work with the right PH commands
.

Thanks in advance, you all have been very helpful in getting me indoctrinated into the PH world!

P.S., I set the sensor to transmit B1 instead of B2 and the RR501 turns on as I would expect - so both units seem to work well enough.

PH should be seeing the B1/2 and it should also be in the log. Do you see any X10 traffic there? Which X10 controller do you have?

I have two X10 controllers plus a phase coupler, the controllers are the Black & Decker Freewire systems, so I don't really know the X10 equivalent. I have about a half a dozen or so X10 items in my network and they all seem to fire fine from PH but NONE of them have ever added to the log file.

Hmmm, I would think I would see something there.

In my setup I have listed as their controller the Insteon PLC.

I can’t imagine it will work defined as a PLC. I would try the Powerlinc Serial for controller definition and hope it might produce something.

If nothing is in the logs, then you don't have anything set up in PH as a controller (unless you have disabled x10 logging).

Craig,

Sounds as if you're using your PLC as the X10 controller (which is fine). Just need to make sure that in the controller settings for the PLC you enable receiving on all of the X10 (all the checkboxes). Reinitialize for the changes to take effect (any changes in the "Setup" section of the Explorer require a reinit to take effect).

You then should start seeing the X10 incoming (assuming you've got X10 in logging turned on...check the "Logs" in the Setup section...if you make changes, reinit). If it doesnt show in the logs, then the PLC isnt seeing the X10. You can verify by opening the SDM window and watching the raw log. X10 commands are labeled and fairly obvious. If they don't show in the SDM then there is a COMM problem. You may need to try relocating the RR501 closer to the PLC because something may be squashing the X10 command before the PLC can see it.

Hope this helps,

Dave.
