I installed power home 2 and restarted computer (upgrade)... I was running ph as a service... the service appears to be running but I don't get an icon in the task bar. When I try to run the ph.exe I get a ODBC connection box. What did I do wrong? Thanks.

Did you copy .ini, .db from old renamed install location and convert database prior to bring up PH2?

Typically one gets that box because another pgm is running the service. For instance Quickbooks.

I still have icon issues usually because I have logged as console remotely or another user is also logged in.
ctrl-alt-del and endtask on the powerhome.exe service then restart it manually was my only choice

tbeckman,
I assuming you got it working because I think I answered another post from you . Let me know if you are still having a problem.
Todd,
With PowerHome running as a service, it sounds as if you console in remotely and you don't see the PH icon in the tray. It sounds as if you then must manually kill the pwrhome.exe process in the task list and restart in order to get this. What happens if you try to launch pwrhome.exe (not as a service) while pwrhome.exe is already running (just not visible in the tray)? Im hoping that it will bring up the running PH instance because I added code so that if pwrhome.exe is launched, it first checks for a running instance (as a service or an exe) and if found, sends a command to the running exe to bring itself visible and then exits itself so that what should happen is that the invisible PH process is now visible.
Let me know so I can try to do some more work in this area if that's not how it's working.
Thanks,
Dave.

Nope dave it errors out with a database window, then no database found to meeting requirements or something like that...
I have a screen capture in my uploads directory, (but I thought it was too large to view here in the forum window...)

ok, Dave interesting scenario... If I kill powerhome.exe it restarts but still doesn't show the icon or the app. I need to kill phservice.exe and then powerhome.exe and then manually reload the application to really get it visible.
