Can anyone suggest an approach to sensing the temp in my freezers, so I can monitor when away from home?
What hardware was used? (I'm assuming there is an issue with the temp probe cable size to get it thru the door gasket without affecting the seal.) Do you have any code you can share?
Much thanks.

Temperatures in PH is easy, I have temperatures for several years now in PH but you are going to have to do some work with a soldering iron...
go here:

krommetje -
Thank you for the ideas. It looks like you have put a lot of work and thought into your project, with nice results.
Unfortunately my PowerHome computer does not have a game port, plus the large size of my house dictates that I use an X10/Insteon "wirerless" approach to deliver the sensed temperatures back to the PowerHome computer, which is a long distance away from the freezers.
Thus I can not use a direct wired approach. Hopefully someoone in the Forum has done this wirelessly and can share their experiences.

I thought I saw two threads on this subject!
Since you mention wireless, I would now suggest a W800 or an RFXCOM unit and their wireless temp sensors.
W800
RFXCOM Receiver
RFXCOM Sensors
