Is there somewhere to decode what's in the event log? I was wondering what the cmd #s represent. I have one thing that comes up regularly, DOOR MOVE. What is that?

Someone else reported this in another topic. It probably has to do with the new extended messaging Insteon is using. You do have to wonder how you get a "door move" report from say a SwitchLinc hehehe

Thanks, I just found that post. Is there a listing somewhere that shows all these interesting codes and what they are supposed to mean?

I found this one to be helpful but did not list DOORMOVE.

Thanks, I think that is the right source for finding what I want, it's just WAY out of date. I wonder if there is an updated version.

Actually the DOOR MOVE message is a Standard Direct command/response in the Access Control device category. This is in the latest docs posted in the SDK forum. I have asked if they can be posted publicly. I'm not holding my breath for an answer, as SH doesn't post/answer questions there too much.

I appreciate the response, but I have no idea what that means.

Must be a code typo on Dave's part since, IIRC, there are no Insteon security devices yet.

I also got "Start Man Chg" which scared me a little bit, but I covered my genitals just in case.

In addition, I got "Pool Temp Down" which surprised me because the pool is already too cold and has no sensors in it.

Interesting responses, I assume maybe they are garbage on the line???

They are not garbage and not Dave's typos. SmartLabs put a whole lot of commands in for the other devices which are coming out, like the ones from Simplehomenet.

My point was that there must be garbage on the lines to make PH think it is receiving these. So I stick with my garbage idea.

I thought Insteon was so good there was no noise.

I'm sorry Tony but I don't think that is true. I have a big noise issue but I don't know from where.

No, it just works around the noise. But PH is so good it listens to the noise too. At least I think this goes back to my original question. Is PH interpretting noise and reporting it, coincidentally matching it with existing SH responses? I do see non-existent addresses being reported. I assume these are PH reading noise. I just want to know if this is PH doing its job correctly, and interpretting what it hears, or if I have something wrong in my setup which causes this.

It's probably a device sending a command that Dave doesn't have mapped properly. I was talking with him a few weeks ago about the messages from the EZRain and he said he was going to add some code, so maybe he's fixing something.

What version are you running?

That will teach me NOT to type after I get off the beach at night...

"Door Move" is a valid command (hex 0x58) but I know of no devices that make use of it yet.

"Start Man Change" is also a normal command and one you may see fairly often as it is short for "Start Manual Change" (sorry about the scare ). This command is generated whenever you press and hold an Insteon switch to dim or brighten a light. It will then be followed by a "Stop Man Change" when you release the button.

The latest version of PowerHome started providing messages for most of the "mapped" commands that SmartLabs has published. Prior versions of PowerHome would just label the command as "Unknown Command" if it didnt fall into one of the common commands such as dim, bright, on, off, etc. Most likely these commands have been received for some time, but have gone unnoticed with the "unmapped" or "unknown" command label.

The good thing (for me anyways), is it's very unlikely a PowerHome problem since PowerHome is just interpreting the 9 byte Insteon command codes sent to it by the SDM. At this point, it's hard to say if it's an SDM malfunction or if it's actual noise on the line causing the problem. I would have thought the Insteon protocol with it's checksums, etc. would prevent this type of command from being reported, but I cant say for sure. Since multiple people have reported it, it's unlikely to be a fluke though.

Perhaps we'll see a difference when I get the code for the PLM done.

Dave.
