noob alert!

i've been reading the docs and browsing the forum and i guess there's just some basics i'm not getting. i've used insteon for a year or so, but just doing simple tap links and using a PLC just as a simple timer and i've done ok with that. with powerhome, i'm a bit confused..

i've got my devices and plc learned into the system and i can control them from PH just fine (basic on, off, dim, etc..)... i've figured out how to drag and drop links on the insteon "links" tab, although i can't figure out what "arrows" to use to add or delete a link from controllers/responders the help file and various posts are talking about. perhaps someone can help me see something i'm obviously missing.

i've got a lot to learn about this, but i'll start with just a simple question:

i have "light-1" that is controlled by an icon dimmable switch. this switch is cross-linked to a KPL, button "C". i set this up some time ago with tap links and it works--button C illuminates when the light is on, etc., whether i turn it on at the icon switch or the KPL.

how, exactly, do i manage this when i turn this light on from PH?

right now, i can turn the light on from PH, but the KPL button A won't illuminate to show the on status.

i know once i get the basics i'll be fine.. :)

thanks,
ken

answering my own question re: controlling the kpl light when using PH to operate remote lights, etc... create a group in the PLC and have PH control that.

see the "PowerLinc <-> Keypadlinc" thread.

sorry for the bandwidth..
