I just ordered my first KeypadLinc. Since I don't currently have one, I hope that what I am about to describe is doable. I think I will hook it up with the six-button configuration, and the four middle buttons to work as toggles, each activating a different scene.
First question: can I tell certain lights to turn off when I activate a certain scene? I was thinking that I could use PH to add the light to the group, but set the level to zero. Will that work?
Second Question: If the buttons are configured as toggles, what will happen the "next time" I push it? What constitutes the "next time"? If I push a button on the KPL today to activate a scene, but then turn the lights on and off using other means, what does the KPL think has happened? If I go tomorrow and try and activate that same scene, will it first turn off? What if I push another button on the KPL, different from the first button? Does that confuse things?
Maybe it will help if I describe the scenes that I want to connect.
I would like one button to turn off all of my upstairs lights. I cannot envision a scenario when I would ever want to turn on all of the upstairs lights from downstairs, but many times I will be downstairs when I realize that I left lights on upstairs, and I'd like an easy way to turn them off. So, one button that turns off all of my upstairs lights.
The next button will be for movie watching. It should turn on the lights that I want turned on, to the correct level, and also turn off all of the other lights. One push, every time, to get exactly that configuration.
Similarly a button for dining, and another one for using the hottub. Some lights come on, all the rest go off. One press every time.
