I want to connect two uirt's to PowerHome. How do I do this? When I connect the 2nd uirt, I can see it (and #1 uirt) in the hardware device manager (Win Xp) and they do have different "Device Instance Id's".
When I set up the 2nd uirt controller on PH, I give it a unique name, and then "enable remote control" and "enable multi zone", just like the first controller. I then set up a IR device that will use this new controller.
The above steps DO NOT work. When I send a IR beam to the #2 uirt, the red light flashes (so I know the uirt sees the IR), but NOTHING registers in the event log.
Also, when I then shoot a beam at uirt#1, the event log shows that I have incoming IR on uirt#1 AND #2 (#2 is blinded from this actual beam). How do I UNIQUELY assign the #2 URIT hardware to the #2 PH uirt controller?
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
OK, your thinking why in the world would I think I need 2 uirt's??? Here is why: The new house (still under construction) will have 4 rooms that will have a hardwired Xantech IR blaster on one wall, and a IR reciever on an opposing wall. As most know, the uirt's have 3 zones, two available from the stereo plug on back, and the 3rd zone is the actual emmitter on the front of the device. By using two uirt's, I will have each of my 4 rooms harwired to one of the 4 zones available via the stereo plug. This way PH will be able to know which room the IR signal came from, and I can make my remote/PH macros/triggers room specific.
Also, by having 2 uirts, I had planned to write my triggers and macros such that if the IR receiver causes PH to run a trigger or macro that calls for an IR output from the Xantech blaster, that this blaster signal would originate from the the OTHER uirt, not the one recieving the incoming IR signal. By doing this, I had hoped to get away from a single uirt that was asked to recieve and send IR at the same time (to avoid two way traffic). Did I "overthink this? Should this work? How do I set up my second unique controller to be tied to the #2 uirt hardware?

Steve,
Unfortunately, PowerHome is not currently equipped to handle multiple USB devices of the same type. If you were using serial devices, then no problem.
I will look at the code and see what would be required to add this type of functionality.
Dave.

Thanks for looking into this further. I eagerly await what you find.
In the meantime this is unfortunate. It seems that most computers these days come with many USB ports and usually no serial ports (yes, you could get an add-in board or a usb to serial hub). However this still wouldn't work with 2 UIRTs .
Getting back to my original reasons for 2 UIRT's....., does aynone else know how to "skin this cat"? I am looking for four (4) seperate IR zones, all identifiable within PH, and never sending out an IR command on the same IR controller as the incoming IR signal.
Help

Steve,
I emailed Jon and got a reply back from him. Im currently in the middle of the Global Cache coding so when Im done with that, I'll take a look at what he sent me.
If all goes well, it will be in the next beta.
Dave.
