Jim,
Email me your current reg number (Help|About|Registration) to support@myx10.com and I'll generate you the appropriate unlock key.
I could just email you the unlock code you had originally but more than likely you used a different reg name when you re-installed and they would be different.
Dave.

I recommend you do what I did after hitting this same situation.
I set up a timed event to backup the db onto a flash drive on my main pc. I just mapped the flash drive to the server and use the below command to automatically copy it.
ph_backupdb('f:\pwrhome.db',1)
You could also do it to a local flash drive or whatever you like. It just has to have a local drive path.

That's a good idea so I decided to set that up. However, when I run the command I get "The formula evaluates to: 4". I checked the help documentation and a return of 4 translates to "Returns 4 if the SQL backup command fails." Do you have to shut down the db somehow first before this command will work?

No, I have mine run every night at midnight. I don't even touch it. Make sure you have the path it's saving to (the F:\pwrhome.db part in mine) set to a local path that already exists. ph won't create the folder for you if you are saving to a folder.

Yes I did that. On my system I'm using the D: drive (D: is a RAID 5 setup). I made the folder first and tried the command. I still get a return of 4. If you manually run yours does it work?

I'm not sure what could be the problem then. As long as you followed the format of the command just as I had shown it, by all rights it should work. I'd prefer not to actually run it now as it takes about 10-15 minutes to copy my 80MB database. lol
Try setting it to save to the root of the drive as below.
ph_backupdb('d:\pwrhome.db',1)
If that doesn't work we might need to wait for the mighty DAVE to chime in. If anyone can figure it out it's him. :D

That works. If I just tell it to save in the root of the drive I have no problem. If I try to save it in a folder then I get a return of 4. Here's the line that doesn't work for me.
ph_backupdb('d:\PowerHomeBackup\pwrhome.db',1)

Glad that got it. I'm not sure why it would have trouble with directories. Dave would know why.
I've always been saving to the root of the drive since I'm using a dedicated compact flash card to save the db to.

There is currently a bug in the database save routine that has problems with certain naming conventions. It should be fixed in the upcoming beta.
Guerrand,
What concerns me is that your DB file is 80MB. It sounds as if your eventlog has never been trimmed. I would definately look at also nightly trimming or exporting (using ph_exporteventlog or ph_trimeventlog) in addition to your backing up. Also, once you've done something to reduce your eventlog size, then I would run the PowerHome Database Upgrade Utility to compress your database back down to a manageable size.
Let me know if you need help,
Dave.

I have it trimming now. I didn't realize it but my log was over 1000 pages. yikes! That definitely goes on the nightly maint setup.
*edit*
LOL. That got the db down to 14mb.

I had the same problem and lost my hard drive with everything on it. I decided to build a small server with Windows 2000 Server edition. I am now mirroring my main hard drive.
I also need to get my product key again since I lost my emails as well. I have Powerhome, Homeseer, and CQC and to be honest havent had time to get any of them up and running. I think that Powerhome is the most Insteon friendly but the others are mor ELK friendly at the moment from what I read. I hope that PH and ELK play together more shortly :)

Digger,
Send me an email with your current reg number and I'll send you the appropriate unlock code. Also, if you can let me know the approximate time that you registered PowerHome, I can go through the history and resend you the RegSoft registration email.
Dave.
