Been trying to create a timed Insteon event but I get a database error every time. All fields are filled in... what am I missing?

Timing= Exact
Frequency= One Shot
Type= Device Control
ID= INSTEON+OFFICE SIDE LAMPS+OFF

All set with mouse clicks so no typos.

Specifically the error is that column "action" cannot be null in table "timed events". Of course there is no "action" column in the timed events window so how do I resolve this?

have you scrolled over to the right to make sure there's not action column? ID would be Insteon, Device would be Office Side Lamps and Action would be Off. not in one entry, if I remember. Most of my timed events are insteonrawgroup commands

I just created a timed event like yours and there was no error.

The Action column in the table is where the commands go.

Yes it is one entry in the form of:

Insteon+Lamps+OFF in the column labeled ID/Keys/Formula

Don't know what I am doing wrong. I shut down and restarted PH and then tried again. I always get the same error. Does this mean my database is corrupted?

Could be. Try a rebuild (run phupg.exe).

Nope... same error after a rebuild. It has to be something simple I am overlooking here!

Mike,

Ive tried to duplicate this and have been unsuccessful so far. The "action" column is the "ID/Keys/Formula" field. There was an earlier bug reported where the "Device Control" window was not saving the data properly in the Control Center Details screen and this may be related (I'll have to do some checking and post back).

Can you try just typing in the Device Control String and seeing if that will take? If it doesnt, you may want to email me a copy of your database as it may be something peculiar that I'll have to investigate.

Thanks,

Dave.

Typing in the string didn't help so I sent you the database.

To keep everyone posted, we solved the problem. Mike had a completely blank timed events (as would be on a new database) and when navigating with the Explorer, PowerHome would automatically create an initial blank timed event (If a section is blank, PowerHome automatically creates the first blank record on all screens). Mike was inadvertantly inserting a new blank Timed Event, editing, and saving whilst leaving the default created blank timed event untouched. This was what was ultimately causing the error saying that the "Action" column was blank.

To work around this, you must either use the default created blank record or delete it before saving to not have these errors.

Hope this helps,

Dave.
