When controlling an insteon device using:

ph_insteon("device id", 22, 0) =>(note: 21 = brighten, 22 is dim)

...and watching the device in the PH device status screen I have noticed that when I brighten to 100% the status changes from "dimmed" to "on" as you would expect (since it has been fully brightened).

However, when you continually dim a device to 0%, the device is still listed as 0% "dimmed". I believe this should be "off" instead.

This is causing me button status type problems.   In other words, when I dim down a light to 0%, my button still shows the light as on (since it's status is dimmed rather than off).

Possible Insteon or PH bug??

Steve

Steve,

This is by design, but might be better if I changed it. This is a holdover from the X10 days where a light that was dimmed to 0% was not off, but just dimmed to 0 (it would respond differently to commands between these two states).

However, I believe I can change this for Insteon. I don't know if Insteon is like X10 where there is a distinct difference between off and dim 0%, but I don't believe it will have an effect in command interpretation like it did with X10. I'll put this on the list to-do.

Dave.

I ran into this too yesterday. I have a PLC group I call "OFF AND DIM" that is used for setting the lights to the appropriate levels when going to bed. All the lights behaved properly, those dimmed to 0 went off and the others dimmed to their proper level. However PowerHome thought the dim 0 lights were still on (Relays) or dimmed (dimmers). I turned on status scan and PowerHome changed its mind on all those that were supposed to be off, so the devices appeared to believe they were off. I don't run status scan all the time because it interfers with some remaining X10 I have in the house. I too would like PowerHome to view Dim 0 as off.

Viper,

I have made the changes to PowerHome and you should see this change in the next version. On Insteon devices, if the level is 0, the status will now show as off.

HTH,

Dave.
