All,

The latest, greatest version of PowerHome 1.03.4.9 is now available here: PowerHome 1.03.4.9.

Sorry for the delay but I wanted to update the help file with all of the latest functions. Check out the readme.rtf for change history, etc.

Also, be sure to NOT install over an existing version. Rename the old PowerHome directory and then install into the default.

Let me know if you encounter any new issues or problems. I believe Ive fixed everything that was reported from the last release but it's possible I missed something. Im going to start on the Elk M1 as a controller VERY soon and won't be able to come up with quick fixes once I get started on that.

Dave.

Dave,

Great update. Everything works as advertised. The RS232 fix for the automatic speaker selector switch works like a charm. Thanks for all the work you put in on this.

When I get a chance I'm going to post the macro you created for the AB8SS along with some specific macros with the codes to work the relays.

Thanks again!

Dave, can we copy over the database files after a fresh install or do we need to manual re-enter all devices and settings?

Jeff,

Heavens to Betsy, no . After doing the fresh install, copy your old pwrhome.db and pwrhome.ini files into the new install directory (overwrite what's there). Run the phupg.exe (Database Upgrade Utility) and you'll have all your old info in the new version.

Hope this helps and let me know if you have any problems.

Nope, the rebuild option will save ALL database details (as well as INI file details) into a fresh new database. No need to rebuild the controllers or other interface details. It was only during the "upgrade" process that this was necessary. The "rebuild" doesnt require this .

OK, Dave, I have been out of the loop for a while and decided to swing by and download .9 (I haven't used the insteon explorer yet as I have been using .4) But my kpl dosent show up on the kpl section... any Ideas? Also is there a insteon explorer manual or an overview to it?

Todd,

If the KPL's arent showing in the KPL config, go to the "Types" tab and make sure that the "KeypadLinc" column is checked for your KPL device types. Depending upon what version you upgraded from and the version of the DBUpgrade util, this was missed. While you're in there, also verify that PowerLinc and ControLinc columns are properly checked. "Save/Refresh", go back to the KPL config tab and "Refresh" and they should now show.

Concerning using the Insteon Explorer, move your mouse over each of the little ? icons to receive popup explanations of everything. This will all be moving into the Help file in the next version.

I have had a lot of trouble figuring out the changes with the new Insteon Explorerer with regard to formulas and timers (stupid me). Finally made a lot of progress. However, I have several stupid questions:

1) How do I create a timer to turn device "Lamp" (a switchlink) on to 50%?

2) Is there documentation for the new coding, i.e. INSTEON+LAMP+ON? Can you do anything but on/off/bright/dim?

3) How do I create a timer to get a lamp to come on at a very slow rate? Do I need to trigger a group with a slow ramp rate set, or can it be in the timer formula itself?

4) Do the old style formulas still work (ph_insteon(insteon, 1, ion, 0)) or whatever it was. Which style should be used in a macro?

5) With Powerhome, can you create a scene triggered by a keypadlink button (say, button 4), that includes the load on the keypadlinc, but uses a level and ramprate different from the default?

Thanks!

4) Yes they work, that's what i still use in timers and macros

5) the different level/ramprate for local load when triggered by another button on a KPL is currently a restriction of the firmware. you CAN however have the button trigger a GROUP that then turns on the local load, but there is a delay of course and the PC has to be on.

Lazyman,

1) You can use the new Device Control Strings or you can use a formula (a couple of different ones). You can use ph_insteon("YOURLAMPLINKID",ion,127) or ph_devicebtn(INSTEON,"YOURLAMPLINKID",adim,"50").

2) Nothing formally documented yet but it's fairly easy to figure out. To get the Device Control Builder, just double-click in the ID/Keys/Formula field of the Timed events. You'll see all possibilities presented then.

3) Ramp rates can only be controlled via groups. If you want a lamp to come on with a very slow ramprate, first create a group (PLC as controller, Lamp as responder) with the appropriate ramprate. Then control the group using ph_insteongroup function or INSTEONGROUP Device Control String.

4) Yep. Use "Raw Formula" for Type.

5) Nope. As Cicero states, you would need to create a trigger controlling a group containing the local load if you want a different level or ramprate.

HTH,

Dave.
