The next beta of PowerHome is now available for download. This version now includes full support for the Velleman K8000 digital/analog I/O controller. Support for the CPU-XA/Ocelot has also been rewritten so that digital and analog devices now appear on the Device Status Screen as well as access to digital and analog triggers.

Starting with this version, Ive opted not to include MDAC as it was causing problems with Microsoft Server 2003 installations. Most recent versions of Windows already include MDAC by default so including it was redundant.

If you are having a lot problems by not including MDAC, let me know and I'll go ahead and generate two versions of the install...one with MDAC and one without.

This release was a tad rushed so let me know if Ive missed anything.

Thanks,

Dave.

Whooooo hoooo! Seems the new version does not have my registration problem anymore!

In Device Status, Sort on ID should be tweaked. My list comes up: A10, A11, A12, A13, A14, A3, A4, A5.

Seems snappier, too?

Thanks for the End of Message input box in Email setup!

You go, Dave!

Looks like the Apt >IS< divided in two areas electricly....there is a washer/dryer tier unit but I can't get at the power....don't know if you can picture what one of these unit's look like but it's for bachelors pretty much...washer on the bottom...dryer on top....

From the panel in the master bedroom...living room opposite side of wall, then den.....

Then going the other direction from the panel is the bathroom, dining room opposite wall of bath, kitchen...

I'm discovering some problems transmitting codes over both ends but I'm still playing....

Pete,

Being divided into two would be typical. You'll have two phases of 110 v coming into your panel. The voltage between the two will supply your 220v for water heater, dryer, A/C, and stove. Then you'll have separate circuits of 110 to neutral for half your standard sockets and the other 110 to neutral for the other half of your sockets. Sometimes, the X-10 has trouble jumping between the 110 phases.

My house worked fine until I got a new dryer. After that, I lost contact with half the house and had to get a phase coupler (actually, if I remember correctly, I still had problems with the phase coupler and now currently use a Leviton repeater/coupler unit). All this just because of a new dryer.

As an experiment...turn on your stove and/or your dryer and see if you communication problems go away. If so, then a phase coupler will most likely solve your problems (if you can find a way to hook it up).

Smarthome makes some phase couplers built into inline 220v passthru plugs. Basically, you plug one of these into your 220v outlet for your dryer (or maybe your stove) and then plug the dryer or stove into the module.

Hope this helps,

Dave.

I just bought off of ebay a BoosterLinc that plugs into any 110 outlet....this is more suited to Apts and small condos.....I'll give this a try first and let you know the results....price was $10 cheaper than from Smarthome from a reputable company right here in WI (Green Bay area)......Digitronex). I've bought alot from them off ebay with good service and quick turnaround (some shipments arrived next day!)....of course.....living a few miles down south helped I'd imagine....

Got my BoosterLinc today...took about 3 outlet placements before I found the optimal location and determined that the signal degredation had been improved or eliminated.

A good worthwhile purchase.......it allows me to exist SOLELY on the W800 now......

Pete,

Thats excellent news. I was worried that the BoosterLinc wouldnt help if it was a phase problem but it looks like it's taken care of your problem.

Yep, that W800 is an awesome device. Much lower lag time.
