I am unable to access the PH web server from any devices inside my
network except on the PC running PH. I have the 127.0.0.1 and
192.168.1.* as the trusted IP sites in PH but get a refused connection.
Anything else I've missed?

I've seen that before. Unfortunately, I can't recall what it was.

Have you restarted PH lately? I recall one variant of that where the web server would get stuck when doing that and NOT rebooting.

gquack,

What kind of firewall are you running on the PH machine? If its Windows firewall, you'll need to add an exception for PowerHome.

Let me know,

Dave.

I am running Norton Internet security. I've looked there to see if I can
find anything blocking PH but see nothing obvious.

Just to rule it out, temporarily disable Norton and see if you can get through via another PC/Device on your same network.

Also, what IP are you trying to hit?

Dave.

OK, turned off Norton and tried again via both my iPad and laptop on the network. Getting a different message - timeout instead of connection refused.

I left everything at the defaults - trying to hit 127.0.0.1 both with and without /ph-cgi/main?layout=0

gquack,

127.0.0.1 (the localhost alias) is only valid from the PH machine. If you're trying to access PH from another machine on the network, you must use the PH machine network IP address (typically it will start with either 192.168.0 or 192.168.1). You can find out the IP address of the PH machine (I recommend setting it either static or reserving a DHCP address via MAC) by opening a cmd prompt and typing ipconfig followed by enter.

Just want to make sure this is not your issue.

Dave.

My bad - this technology is really exposing my lack of
subject matter expertise in the web and network worlds. I
am able to access the web server with appropriate device
control and a couple more blocks in the wall are now in
place :-) Now to set a static IP for my PC as I see that
will be critical. Onward - thanks Dave and Happy New Year
everyone!
