Dave,

I am trying to use the announce hour macro from the sample database... easy I figured... BUT it dosnt "say" anything.  If I use the formula builder and verify each part of the formula it is correct... until the TTS line, it dosnt say anything, almost as if there is nothing stored in the variable

Todd,

Did you use the formula exactly as it was in the sample?  If so, it won't work as I had it temporarily disabled since it was getting on my better half's nerves.

The very first line of the macro is "Jump 999" which will essentially cause the macro to jump to line 999 which is waaaayyy after the end of the macro so it just does nothing.  If its still there, just delete the first line .

If thats not the problem, let me know and we'll work it out.  Another way to test and verify is to change the last line from TTS to Message Box with TTS.  That way you can see exactly what it's trying to speak.

HTH,

Dave.

Here is my hourly announcement code called by an hourly trigger...

[TEMP1] | hour( now() )
[TEMP1] | if( [TEMP1] = 0, 12, [TEMP1] )
[TEMP1] | if( [TEMP1] > 12, [TEMP1] - 12, [TEMP1] )
TTS     | string( [TEMP1] )

The system saying "zero" drove me nuts for a bit! I also play a grandfather clock chime just before the hour is announced. I always liked that sound!

I found the chimes by searching for wav's via Google.

My macro plays a complete chime (8 notes) on the hour, then, announces the hour number. On the halves, I just use a singe note chime.

Complete Chime: http://tonyno.ods.org/gfclock.wav

Single Note: http://tonyno.ods.org/gfclocksingle.wav

Maybe I'll change it up a bit and make it a cuckoo clock!
