I have a ControLinc in my bedroom. I have switch one set to control all of the lights
outside of the bedroom, which is 28 devices. The other switches are set to control one or
two lights at most (bedroom, bathroom, etc). The problem I have is when I hit the group one
all off, it takes about a minute for it to send all of the commands. In fact, if I hit the
switch and run out of the bedroom, I can watch it turn the lights off one at a time. What's
more, inevitably at least one light will not turn off, so I am often tempted to try it
again. Usually, I just give up and press the all off button, and then turn on the bedroom
lamp. Is there a way to improve the reliability and or responsiveness of the ControLinc
when controlling a large number of devices? Has SH developed any newer devices that work
better? I've had these for a couple of years now.

Seeing the Responders turn Off one at a time indicates either the ControLinc is defective and not sending the initial Group Broadcast message which should have turned all the responders Off simultaneously or the powerline is not very good such that the Group Broadcast is not being received by all responders.
Try plugging the ControLinc into other outlets throughout the house to see if better results are seen.
After sending the single Group Broadcast message Insteon Group protocol requires the ControLinc to send a Group Cleanup to each Responder linked to the button and receive an ACK from the responder before proceeding to the next responder. If the powerline is noisy such that the Group Broadcast is not seen by all responders the Group Cleanup may have to be retried before getting an ACK which will slow the process down even more.
Powerline noise can be a challenge to find. Try unplugging devices, cell phone chargers, flat screen TVs, CFLs, even PC and UPS power supplies can attenuate Insteon signals making them less reliable.

I rebuilt all the links in my ControLinc and that seems to have fixed it right up.. When I hit the group one OFF button, they
all turn off right away.
