I've just this morning picked up a Sylvania Ultra PAR30 Dimmable LED bulb. Rated at 770 lumens, 15 watts, and 50,000(!) hours of service lifetime, for about $50.
In thinking about the economics of it all, I came to realize that it'd be really, really interesting to monitor the actual service lifetime of the lights. Since PowerHome is aware of the status of the lights, it would seem to be an optimal place to build a log or database. A simple log would be sufficient, per-Insteon-device, on/off/level-change events, with timestamps.
It'd be really funny if one of these failed at 10,000 hours, to be able to send it to Sylvania with a full log of its hours in use. ;-)
Has anyone done anything like this? I can think of several ways to go about it, but as a newbie to PowerHome, the best way isn't entirely obvious to me.
