Hi everyone, I'm setting up a new PH rig with all my servers stored away in a closet controlling the house. I'd to be able to control PH from downstairs. Can I get some recommended hardware setups for both IR receiver, and RF extenders for IR?
I do have a few hauppagauge remotes from my HTC setup I could possibly use if compatible, and I also have the windows MCE remotes as well...
Any advice greatly appreciated ! :)

Pingmustard,
Are you looking to control PowerHome via IR? Or the other way around...PowerHome control other devices via IR. If the former, Ive had less than satisfactory results though others have been successful. I tend to use the old RF X10 palmpads coupled with a W800RF32 receiver for remote handheld triggering of PowerHome. That, and Ive stepped up to using handheld wireless devices connecting to PowerHome via the web server.

I actually wanted to do both. I recently bought the Powerlinq Dual band modem:
http://www.smarthome.com/2413U/PowerLinc-Modem-INSTEON-USB-I nterface-Dual-Band/p.aspx
I was under the impression this could send AND recieve messages from other devices (hence I wouldn't need a W800 RF reciever?)
The flip side of this equation is I'd like to use it to control some devices down stairs that only have IR remotes. Is there some recommended hardware that's not so expensive and works well with PowerHome?
Thanks!

The Insteon Dual Band PLM sends and receives Insteon device RF signals. The W800 receives X10 signals. Two different protocols on different RF frequencies. Neither processes the others RF signals.
