Hi - I temporarily removed an Appliance module, and marked it as "disabled" in the Insteon/Units list. However, PH is still trying (unsuccessfully) to execute timed events for this module. Shouldn't PH ignore events for disabled modules?

When a device is marked Disabled or the Clear failed column is red shaded background activity is suspended such as the status query and link activity.   It does not stop foreground activity such as triggering events from the device and apparently it does not stop timed events either.   See the following topic for Dave’s explanation of what Disabled does and does not affect.
