All,

Well its finally here. Release 2.1 of PowerHome is now available. Check it out on the download page. The only thing missing right now is the updated manual. Im a quarter of the way through on updating but didnt want to hold up the release while waiting on it. As soon as its finished, I'll upload it.

Also included in the 2.1 release are the new Remote Clients. They are also available on the download page as a separate install. Ive also created ANSI versions of the Remote Clients on the download page (these versions run on all versions of Windows from 95 up).

Also included is a zip file (phupg_all.zip) which includes upgrade files for all public versions of PowerHome.

Anyways, let me know if anyone has any problems and Happy Thanksgiving.

Dave.

Thanks Dave!

In addition to the normal upgrade steps, don't forget to copy over any plugin ini files!

Looks like the Help file still needs to be updated, too (ph_setforegroundwindow1, ph_runasuser, ph_show).

So far, so good!

Interesting note.. On my Vista system I could not rename Powerhome in the program files. Had to go into Safe Mode. Said it was being used. Don’t know by whom. Otherwise went clean on XP and Vista.

Happy Turkey Day.

So how do we use this?
"Added new /ph-cgi/eval function. Takes a single parameter called formula. Evaluates the formula and returns the result as text without any HTML."
Sounds interesting...

I just upgrade from 1.03.4.11. I think I followed the stepps correctly, renamed the old directory, installed the new version, did the two-step database upgrade (By the way, you could make it a little easier to find PHUPG10396.EXE) and started up PowerHome. Everything looks good. Initial thoughts/concerns. The device Status screen doesn't show all of my insteon devices any more--just the groups. Is that the way it's supposed to work? I liked the old way better when I could see each individual light. Or am I just missing something? Other than that, so far, so good.

One other note, in the old users manual, it states that there are sample psp pages in the web folder, but I don't have any in my installation. I'm sure I didn't delete them, and I checked every version/folder I've had since I first installed PH two years ago. Am I missing something here too?

Is “All Locations” selected in the Device Status screen? Or maybe you have a filter set.

Yeah, "* All Locations *" is set, and I went into the filter and it seems to be blank, so I don't think that is it either.

Do they show in the Insteon Explorer screen?

Yep, all there. Strange huh? Control Center only lists insteon groups, no singe devices. But in the insteon explorer, I can see both my groups and my devices.

In my last post, I said "Control Center" where I meant to say "Device Status". Sorry.

Check to make sure that those are not set up as Don't Display. This is in the Insteon Devices screen.

If I were to make a wild guess I’d say something went wrong in the DB update.

That's what I think, but there were no error messages at all. Everything looked great.

Well, you won't believe it, but I fixed it by "sorting" the list. yeah. All I did was press the "Sort" button, added the "type" field, and applied it and now everything is there. Go figure.

Database's can be quirky sometimes and simple manipulation goes a long way to clean things up 'mysteriously' On some of the systems I work on -real work not Home Automation stuff :)-- we often run into situations where it looks like everything is in the DB properly, but for whatever reason the device just won't work. Before we go to a lot of work to delete and re-enter the device and all associated devices, cause you know how associations are, we simply dirty a bit, meaning check a box that will actually not change anything and then save...it is amazing how many things fix themselves with that method.

Dave,

Overall, I'm impressed. I like the status bar and I can see you've addressed all the things I ran into in 2.0.0.

I had some problems with the upgrade and it might have been due to when I captured my pwrhome.ini and pwrhome.db file. I like to uninstall the previous version of Powerhome just to keep things clean. It appears my pwrhome.ini ended up without the pointer to the pwrhome.db file and it also was missing a WEBSERVERDIRECTORY (or something like that) entry. I hand created those and then all was well.

The last thing is not causing a problem, other than performance. When PowerHome issues an Insteon Group command it now sends the Insteon Group command followed by Group Cleanups to each of the devices in the group. However, for each device, it is sending the Group Cleanup, receiving an ACK, sending the Group Cleanup, receiving an ACK, sending the Group Cleanup, receiving an ACK, then goes on to the next device and does the same three repetition dance step with the next device. So for my BEDTIME group, it took 2 minutes and 42 seconds to complete, when it could have completed in 54 seconds. Again, not a functional problem, just a bit slower than it could be.

Thanks for the great job Dave!

Tom
