I know someone is doing this. I want to be able to turn on/off the TV and change channels from PH by simulating the remote. Is there something out there that PH talks to that will act like a TV Remote? My past experience, when I played with something similar, was an IR blaster but that was relaying from an IR source.

If your PH computer is in the same room as the TV you want to control - USB-UIRT. If not, Global Cache GC-100. I have both and they both work great.
The plus on the USB-UIRT is that it is two-way, which allows you to receive IR with PH and trigger things.
I created a CC page that has all the buttons I have on my cable box's remote. With PH's CC web page I use a Nokia n700 as a remote via WiFi. All so I can control the Family Room dvr from the bedroom.

Thanks Brady, since the PH computer(s) are on a different floor I’ll check out the GC-100. I have another that is located near the TV but that’s the wife's……..

So Brady, from a 30k foot view, how would I communicate with the Global Cache GC-100 from PH to the TV and how would I emulate the TV remote.

The GC-100 connects to the PH box via your LAN. Then sends IR via plug-in emmitters to your A/V equipment.
In PH Explorer, under Devices is IR. There you set up
your equipments' IR codes, etc.
The missing link with the GC-100 is learning IR codes. Global Cache makes an IR Learner, but it doesn't work with PH, although Dave has it on the todo list.
I first got the USB-UIRT and learned codes using it with PH. I tried using PowerMids but I have too much RFI for them to be reliable. That led me to the GC-100. I copied IR codes I learned using the UIRT over to the devices controlled by the GC-100.
I have probably left something out. Just keep asking questions.

I use a USB-UIRT and Powermids. Works great. A Powermid is an IR relay device. Set up the transmitter by your TV and the receiver by the UIRT.

In my PH Setup all that shows is Button Delay. Must be more to it somewhere. So I would send PH-? commands that would go out over the LAN and over the Wireless network in my case. Which prompts the next question. How and what are you connecting the box to the LAN with? Sounds like this is starting to be an expensive TV remote. Thanks for bearing with me on this.
The other thought is using the USB-UIRT with some kind of powerful transmitter/receiver. Tony, caught your post as I was typing. I don’t believe the Powermids will transmit up and over between floors. I can test them since I have a couple of pairs around..

Tony, after testing it appears if I hold the pwr button for a second or 2 the Powermid works from down below to above. Sounds like the USB-UIRT may be viable. Time to play more….

I have a wired LAN so the GC100 just plugs in.
If I could have made the Powermids work, that is the route I would have taken.
I hoping GC-IRE support will make it into the next PH2 release.

I suspected you were cat-5. I figured by the time I put all the wireless together it was about to become an expensive remote. Really appreciate all the help
