I recently installed latest version of PH on my WinXP system. When I am in the Explorer trying to set up or change macros the text in the id and description fields starts changing without me typing anything. I am a new user and could easily have set things up wrong. This ghost text happens in other area also such as timed events. I don't get this behavior in any other applications so I believe my keyboard is ok.  I don't have a cat so nothing is walking over the keys either.

Here's an example: In the Description field I type "TURN ON OUTSIDE LIGHTS".  What gets in the field is "TUR2N2 LON  OU2T2SID2E LIGHT2". When I stop typing it continues to change to something like "FL7777777".

Any ideas? Thanks.

You wouldn't possibly have Office 2000 and have the speech recognition turned on, would you? This actually happened to me once.

The problem does indeed seem to be that I had Speech Recognition enabled. I turned it off and haven't seen any ghost characters reappear.

Thanks Tony. Also my wife thanks you for the improvement in the language around here.

Pat,

Sorry it took so long to respond, just got back from vacation.

Anyways, it looks as if Tony has helped you out.  Im not sure if I would have even thought of that.

Tony, thanks a lot.  I would have been delving into the code and scratching my head on this one

Dave.
