Dave,

Any updates on controlling/updating the ELK via the ethernet expander?

I dont have my PH computer nearby, and couldnt get the virtual serial port software working...(but I think that's me)

Todd,
My Elk is off line due to construction installation (still!!), but I would be willing to help you try to diagnose why your not able to get the virtual serial port software to work.

Like you, I am also curious about the next release, but the VSP software really works well for me (as far as interacting with the elk via the ethernet module).

....at least it did when it was hooked up....

Steve

I too need to connect via the ethernet expander.

What is "virtual serial port software"?

See this thread about the freeware HW Virtual Serial Port
LINK

This is a work around (using ethernet only) until PH talks directly to the ELK. I think it has been mentioned that Dave will render this workaround obsolete (not needed) with the next beta release of PH.

Thanks. HW VSP was easy to install but I think I might be in over my head here. I think I will wait for the "paint by numbers" point and shoot PH/Elk.

I have used the HW_VSP tool to connect the my.Elk HomeSeer script to my Elk XEP for a year or two. Please post if you have any configuration questions and I will try to help.

Make sure you uncheck "NVT enable" in the Settings tab.
