Where and how do I specify the port to which my W800RF32 is attached? I don't find a way in PH Explorer>Setup>Controllers.

Or, does the initialization process just search for it across all ports?

Under Setup Controllers there is a Settings button that will open a window where you can specify the COM port.

I will look again, but I did not see such a possibility there. I saw lots of check boxes about X10.

Yep, it's on the "Setup Controllers" screen under the "Settings" button. It's in the upper left corner of the window that pops up labeled "COM Port".

Let me know if you have any problems.

Dave.

Color me blind!

Now that the W800RF32 is set up, I am getting to trying to sense X10 keyfob and MS16A signals to process triggers to turn on/off Insteon devices. I have the triggers set to look for X10RF IN.

So far, I get sometimes success. For each push of the keyfob button, I see the cursor flash, but the trigger doesn't fire. Then other times, the trigger will fire with the push of the same button.

Unless I am receiving neighbor's signals, it looks like, from the event log, that the received signal is for the wrong house code/unit when the trigger fails.

Are these fobs that bad? When I used the TM751, it seemed to always sense correctly.

If you have suggestions, I am open. Otherwise I will keep on playing.

edit: My PalmPad has the same troubles. I am within 5' of the receiver.

Is it possible that my serial connection is losing or scrambling data? I am using an MCT3U1S1P USB serial port. Are there settings I can force, like lower baud rate or handshaking? If so, how?

edit2: Maybe I was overloading the receiver by being too close - 5'. The RF transmitters farther away seemd to work better - maybe 100%.
